Why Zarigüeyas?
Our name expresses a way of accompanying people: protecting, supporting and enabling each person to move forward with autonomy.
The pouch as a community metaphor
Opossums, marsupials native to our continent, inspire our institutional purpose because they protect and carry their young through an important stage of growth. The Corporation uses this image as a metaphor for support that does not replace autonomy.
Support for autonomy
Zarigüeyas LDZ seeks to create opportunities for children, young people, families, adults and older people to develop, question, create, interpret and transform their realities. Accompaniment is understood as a process that strengthens capacities, critical thinking and participation.
A community pouch
Our identity is built around a community that supports when support is needed and recognizes the moment to let people move forward. Independence, shared learning and collective knowledge are central to this approach.
